One of the major works of Milford’s later life (1946-47), this work for Viola and orchestra is now presented in it’s piano reduction. A spare, lyrical work of haunting beauty but with the lingering despair of his later years, the work has a place amongst the last of the masterpieces written for viola in the English pastorale school.
